Story
An important reflection point in our lifes was when we started to travel the world. We visited many different continents and countries and became aware how sophisticated our life in Europe is. In so many parts of the world, e.g. in India, South America or in Africa there are so many people who do not even have access to basic goods: fresh water, electricity and medicine. We realized how unequal life is around the world.
There are many factors outside of anyone’s control that make it hard for some people to reach their potential: where you are born, where you grow up, which education you get, who your parents are, whether you are a boy or a girl. Both of us had the desire to change this inequality.
Therefore, in 2017 we decided to establish the Beena & Dirk foundation under the trusteeship of the Stifter für Stifter foundation. We have donated part of our wealth into this foundation to help other people and especially children as they are the most vulnerable and unprotected individuals within our society.
We are convinced that a structured approach through a foundation helps to channel the support in oder to have the most effective impact.
Purpose
Our Purpose is to advance equality in the world and to create a world where every child has the opportunity to live a healthy and productive life. In developing countries, the Beena & Dirk foundation focuses on improving children’s health and giving them the chance to lift themselves out extreme poverty. In developed countries, Beena & Dirk foundation seeks to ensure that all children – especially those with the fewest resources – have access to the opportunities they need to succeed in school and life. For nearly 20 years, the founders Beena and Dirk have been committed to fighting inequities in the world by supporting local non-profit organizations all over the world.
Role
We can’t achieve our goals on our own. We work together with businesses, government, nonprofits, high-net-worth individuals and each partner plays a specific role in accelerating progress. We are still building up a network and are looking pro-actively for partners or individuals who are dedicated to contribute to a better world for all children no matter where they live.
